I named this blog after the 3 elements of music, rhythm, harmony & melody, which I have tattooed on my arm.
My earliest musical memories began when I was probably 4 or 5 years old, I had a record player and my favorite albums were Disco Duck and Mickey Mouse Disco (it was the 70’s, don’t judge me!). Thankfully, my mom had a nice collection of classic rock albums, the Beatles, the Eagles, Fleetwood Mac, Simon & Garfunkel, etc. I had good taste in music before I hit the age of ten!
Every day of my young life included listening to music either on the radio, record player, or cassettes. My walls were covered in posters of all my favorite musicians. My first concert was Def Leppard in 1988, when I was 15 years old. 32 years later I have lost count of how many concerts I have been to, although I have kept most of my ticket stubs! I mostly go to music festivals now, where I see dozens of artists in one weekend.
For someone who loves music so much, even I am confused how I never became a musician. I have had plenty of instruments, a few cheap keyboards, a real piano, an acoustic guitar, a violin—my guess is that I am just lazy, and there is too much good music in the world to add to the heap. Sometimes I get sad when I realize I will never get to hear all the music there is out there. Whenever I discover a new favorite, I feel like I have found buried treasure. I wonder how I survived without this new music!
Another thing that makes me sad is knowing that there are people out there who don’t know this amazing music! So I started this blog to share with the world what I think is the best music out there. Sure, it’s all just my opinion, but this music is too important to me to just leave it up to chance that people will find it. So thanks for checking my blog out and I hope you discover a new favorite!
