Pink Floyd

For most of my life, Pink Floyd has never left my top 10 list, in fact they’ve always been somewhere near the top. I am incredibly grateful that I was able to see them live twice. I also saw Roger Rogers a few times on his own, Nick Mason twice, and David Gilmour once. I am a huge fan of lasers, lights, and extravagant stage props, and Pink Floyd are masters at this. Most of their music is timeless, emotional, and relatable. What’s not to love?

Amazing Lyrics: The song “Eclipse” gets my vote for best lyrics, and as a side note, this song should never be played on it’s own, it’s really the 2nd half of “Brain Damage”.

Pink floyd meme

I want to get these lyrics tattooed on me!

All that you touch
And all that you see
All that you taste
All you feel
And all that you love
And all that you hate
All you distrust
All you save
And all that you give
And all that you deal
And all that you buy
Beg, borrow or steal
And all you create
And all you destroy
And all that you do
And all that you say
And all that you eat
And everyone you meet (everyone you meet)
And all that you slight
And everyone you fight
And all that is now
And all that is gone
And all that’s to come
And everything under the sun is in tune
But the sun is eclipsed by the moon

Those last 2 lines though!! *dies*

Best guitar solo: AND My favorite song: And then there’s the best guitar solo in the history of music, and if you love Pink Floyd too then you probably know which one I mean! “Comfortably Numb” is a transporter song if I ever heard one, as it fades out I find myself wishing it would never end. After it’s over, I open my eyes and have to re-learn how to function on planet Earth again.

The “Fat Old Sun” guitar solo is a pretty close 2nd  place, and the “Time” solo too—I could go on, but you get my point; David Gilmour guitar solos can melt my face off anytime.

Best Saxophone Solo: (yeah, that’s right) Terminal Frost

Worth mentioning: Special shout out to the entire Animals album! This is the ONLY Floyd album I love all the way through, no filler whatsoever. I can’t even say that about The Wall or Dark Side of the Moon.

Songs that take me to outer space:

  • Comfortably Numb
  • On the Turning Away
  • Terminal Frost
  • Saucerful of Secrets (especially the angelic voices part!)
  • Lost For Words

Wackiest song: Several Species of Small Furry Animals Gathered Together in a Cave and Grooving With a Pict

What is a pict? Are these species getting along? Does “grooving” mean dancing or procreating? My questions are not answered in this song, which has no music or lyrics, just an angry foreign man yelling at some chipmunks.
